about akouw counseling
Where Listening Comes First
At Akouw Counseling, we believe people are better equipped to navigate life when they have the opportunity to be heard, understood, and supported. Counseling provides a space to explore the experiences, relationships, challenges, and circumstances that shape our lives and to develop the insight and skills needed to move forward.
The name Akouw (ah-koo-OH) comes from the Koine Greek word meaning “I hear,” “I listen,” or “I am listening.” The name reflects our belief that meaningful counseling begins with listening—not simply to a presenting problem, but to the whole person and the context of their life.
A Client-Centered, Holistic Approach
Akouw Counseling provides individual, couples, and family therapy through a client-centered, holistic approach. Clients are involved in identifying their concerns, establishing goals, and determining the direction of their treatment.
Therapeutic approaches may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Reality Therapy, and other approaches selected according to each client's needs and goals.
We believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and unconditional positive regard. Counseling is therefore tailored to the individual rather than based on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Counseling for Life's Challenges
People seek counseling for many different reasons and at many different points in life. Akouw Counseling works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, family conflict, emotional challenges, and significant life transitions.
The goal of counseling is not simply to address a presenting problem, but to help clients develop greater understanding, practical skills, and confidence in managing the challenges they face.
Faith-Based Counseling
We recognize that faith can be an important part of how people understand themselves, their relationships, and their experiences.
Christian faith-based counseling and prayer are available to clients who request them. When incorporated into counseling, faith is considered within the context of the client's goals, beliefs, and preferences.
Encouraging, Equipping, and Empowering
Our work is guided by three aims: encourage, equip, and empower.
To encourage is to provide a supportive environment in which people can be heard and understood.
To equip is to develop practical knowledge, skills, and strategies that can be applied beyond the counseling session.
To empower is to help people develop greater confidence and ownership as they navigate their lives, relationships, and responsibilities.
These same principles extend beyond psychotherapy through Akouw's professional development and presentations for professionals, organizations, families, and youth.
about undré alee

Meet Undré Alee
Undré Alee is the owner and founder of Akouw Counseling and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. He has worked as a psychotherapist for nearly two decades, providing individual, couples, and family therapy to adolescents, adults, young adults, and families.
His clinical experience includes private practice, nonprofit counseling, school-based therapy, and home-based services. Throughout his career, he has worked with clients navigating concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, anger, relationship difficulties, family conflict, low self-concept, and other emotional and behavioral challenges.
A Client-Centered Approach
Undré approaches counseling as a collaborative process in which clients are active participants in their treatment. He believes effective counseling begins with understanding the person, their circumstances, and the goals they hope to accomplish.
His approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Reality Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches as appropriate to the needs of each client.
Rather than applying a single approach to every client, Undré considers the individual's experiences, strengths, relationships, values, and circumstances when developing a plan for treatment.
His goal is to help clients develop practical tools and greater understanding so they can better manage challenges, strengthen relationships, and move forward with greater confidence.
Education & Professional Experience
Undré's education combines professional counseling, psychology, and Christian ministry.
He earned a Master of Arts in Counseling (2008) and a Master of Divinity (2007) from Oral Roberts University, where he also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Christian Ministry with a minor in Psychology (2004).

Faith and Counseling
Undré's Christian faith informs his commitment to serving people with compassion, dignity, and respect. His background in both counseling and ministry also provides a foundation for clients who desire to incorporate faith into their therapeutic work.
Faith-based counseling and prayer are available by request. Clients determine whether and how faith is incorporated into their counseling experience.
Professional Development & presentations
Undré's work extends beyond individual counseling. Drawing on nearly three decades of leadership and service experience, he also provides professional development and presentations for mental health professionals, schools and educators, churches and ministries, businesses and organizations, nonprofit organizations, community and human services, and groups serving children, adolescents, and families.
His presentations focus on practical topics such as professional well-being, communication, leadership, relationships, resilience, and personal growth.
Across both counseling and professional development, his work is guided by a desire to encourage, equip, and empower people with knowledge, skills, and support they can apply in their everyday lives.
